Blog #8 Comment on political rumors

I am responding to anderas article on Political rumors undergo truth tests. Her blog is labeled the American dream. I'm unsure what this article is about. I'm unclear what the issue is. The response Andrea gave was kind of short for a blog. I was confused as to who was lazy? I liked the link that was given on the article she must have responded to but it did not work. If it did that would have been nice. Are politicians undergoing lie detector test? Little details were given. But her response had lots of emotion which was great commentary to an article:)

"Splender in the Grasshopper" posted by Eileen.

According to an article in the Texas Monthly."Last Thursday Congressman Ted Poe compared illegal immigrants to illegal grasshoppers." I was just as surprised as Eileen to find out many grasshoppers come into our country illegally. It sounds like when Poe was on the House floor he questioned all his colleagues by asking "Why can't we prevent illegal grasshoppers from our country, but not the much bigger illegal immigrants?"

In other words what I believe Poe is suggesting is that we are highly advanced in technology. We take a lot of time and effort into capturing and returning illegal grasshoppers by sending them back to Brazil. I think he was thinking size wise an illegal immigrant is way bigger than a grasshopper so why is it so hard to catch them and send them back to their country.

Eileen suggest that Poe is serious and is worried about "breeding." First off, Whats wrong with illegal grasshoppers from breeding? But that is besides the point. i don't think when Poe mad this comment in a racial way. I'm not sure if i agree with Eileen's opinion of how she reacted to Ted Poe's statement he made. She turned it into something negative and was too focused on making it humorous. I think Eileen missed the whole point Poe was trying to make that we have the power, why cant we stop this?

"5 year old Julian Soliz"

I can totally relate to Amanda Harris's Blog #5 on the little boy named Julian that was found dead in a yard in Wells Branch. I live on Wells Branch and this is horrible, and shocking! There was signs posted up for a ceremony for the little boy on my street to meet at the pond and I had wondered why. Now I know it was because he was found in the community. This is so sad. Some people take their children for granted, when they are blessings!

I totally agree with Amanda. We will never understand why these kinds of things happen. Obviously, if CPS was involved most of the childs life, they should have been aware of the wherabouts of the child. Especially the mother. To have not seen her child in a whole month is what is crazy to me! I would have taken care of that quick. This child was obvioulsy neglected and was not taken care of. So sad.

It is hard to just not care, or ignore these kinds of stories on the media. You cant! Especially when it has to do with Victims and young victims." Children are innocent and it affects everyone in society when something tragic happens. The media makes you feel concerned. I am a young mother who knows what a good mother is capable of. It is very hard for us good mothers who truly know the meaning of being a mother to hear about a child being neglected, hurt or killed!

Unfortunately, I don't know how we can prevent these things from happening. Parenting classes would be nice for every parent to take. It is just one of those things we don't have control of. If CPS was involved and no one cares to make something happen there is no way to prevent these kinds of things. People just need to have more sense.

Amanda is right, being a parent is a privelege not a right. But sometimes with the system the other parents end up with no control with whats going on with their own child in the custody of the other parent. When you are dealing with Child custody issues sometimes things just aren't fair. These are just one of those holes in our system we need to work out and address.

~~*TeXaS&LoCaLGoV't*~~: "Metal Detectors Coming to State Capital."

"Metal Detectors Coming to State Capital."

In 30-45 days there will be metal detectors in the state capital. They will be placed at 4 entrances. There will also be an X-Ray machine to prevent any concealed weapons from coming into the capital. Public officials decided it was the best to protect the safety of everyone. This decision was made after Fausto Cardenas was caught firing several shots on the steps of the capital back in January. The governor was the only one that voted against the metal detctors...which I find a little odd and interesting.
With all that under effect The Constitution does say concealed handguns are allowed inside the capital. Anyone with a license to carry a handgun will have permission to carry their concealed handgun inside.

"Whip Me, Beat me, Call Me Conservative."

This blog was posted March 30, 2010.
By: Eileen Smith from In The Pink.
http://www.texasmonthly.com/blogs/inthepink/

The author Eileen writes an article on her reaction about the reimbursement that was paid for, for the republicans who went to a Bondage lesbian Sex club. They ran up a $2,000 tab and was reimbursed! Sounds like it was the idea of Eric Brown, a GOP Consultant, and Allison Meyers s director for a program.
The RNC(Republican National Commitee) says they had already told Allison Meyers "this activity was not eligible for reimbursement and had been previously counseled." Which is shocking to me because she was already explained this, and she wasn't fired? Obviously this republican didn't have any consequences for her actions if she felt she did not have to comply. This makes me wonder how could they be trusted?
Oh gosh, Eileen goes on to say that this bondage place is frequented by the Famous Lindsay Lohan, and Mickey Rourke constantly. I would never imagine our republican party in the same place as these celebrities who seem to always catch negative attention in the media!
Eileen Smith goes on to give more names of others who have had bad behavior such as John Edwards, Eliot spitzer, John Ensign, Mark Sanford, Eric Massa, and Mark Foley. She compares these people with the Republicans that attended the lesbian bondage club as all in the same category of "Desperate Young Democrats." I agree.
I am also just as disappointed in the values and morals of the republicans who attended the club.

"Why is Greg Abbott Wasting our Money?"

Michael Hurta is a 3rd year Gov't Major at the University of Texas. He volunteers and Interns at Campaigns. He wrote this Article that was published in the Burnt Orange Source and his opinions are his own. He is upset that Greg Abbott is filing a lawsuit with some other Attorney Generals against the bill the president signed on the New Health Care Reform. Hurta says Abbott sees a problem with the individual mandate that is a constitutional problem with the bill, and Abbott believes the mandate is a problem because "it expands the commerce clause farther than ever before." But Hurta says this wont be a problem until 2014. And believes the whole lawsuit goes against the 10th amendment, according to the constitution( restates the Constitution's principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states by the constitution of the United States are reserved to the states or the people.) Hurta is saying us citizens(the People) tax money is being wasted by Greg Abbott on a lawsuit that has no effect on the economy right now, when he says there are more important things to address right now like overcrowding of prison populations and the Death penalty. Hurta gives another link to click on and read more on Greg Abbotts thoughts, and even sides with Republicans by stating "Even Republicans have to wonder what chance does Texas have of winning?" This was very convincing to me especially when Hurta brings up prison overcrowding, and stuff like that that is a big problem in the United States. It does make me think that our Attorney Generals should be trying to help bigger problems in our economy with us people instead of fighting within themselves. Its kind of disappointing to know that we have to spend our hard working money on bickering when we should be trying to help our nation.
